What is Build to Rent to Own (“B2R2O”)?
B2R2O is an innovative approach to creating homeownership opportunities for members of the “community workforce” – teachers, nurses, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other municipal, non-profit, or public service employees – to bolster the economic and societal wellbeing of communities suffering from the Affordability Crisis.
How does B2R2O work?
B2R2O sources land acquisition and pre-development equity capital from philanthropic investors and grantors, who typically have a connection to the local community being served. Through this flexible funding, B2R2O then constructs, occupies, and operate its projects for a 3-year rental period, known as the “Program Period”. At the conclusion of the Program Period, B2R2O Beneficiaries “graduate” into home-ownership as B2R2O supports them in securing a mortgage on their home with no money down.
